1 week left. Planning a special westy trip. Not often that we plan so far ahead. A different kind of pilgrimage. Westypilgrimage. Our Westy is part of our family, we picked him up 26 years ago brand-new in the factory in Hannover. After 26 years of joy, happiness and zillions of great moments we’re decided to go on special kind of pilgrimage with him this fall.
25 years ago we was with the same camper at cabo da roca in Portugal.

Maintenance Day - first weekend in months we aren't on the road with one of our campervans. So a little morning maintenance is done for prep for our westypilgrimage starting next week. I build the original water container back in the westy. Cleaned and with a new pump, hoses and a new faucet for the sink. A couple years ago I removed the container and installed only a removable canister with a pump in the fridge cabinet. It was easier to maintain. Now we need the space in the formerly fridge cabinet, so the decision to rebuild the original setup. After I installed the complete interior only a few weeks ago. This job was surprisingly fast done. Proud of myself. 😉. =====================

Last year at this time both of our campervans were at the beach but 2 different countries, 2 different seas, 900 miles apart. This year we managed to meet up at the same beach. But the #vwcaliforniabeach will stay for surfing. The #westy will hit into Spain and hopefully to #theendoftheworld #finisterre ===========

Day 6. Hola Espana. From France into Spain. Crossing offshoots of the Pyrenees and heading west. Heavy winds! Hard work for the westy and for me to keep the westy on the road. Arrived a little bit later but it was still enough time for the beach and a little ride on the singlespeeds to discover the surroundings.

Day 7. Today a pleasant drive further west. Winds again, but luckely not so strong as the day before. So only a short ride was planned a quick stop at #decathlon in #santander for shopping and sneaking arround could be managed. Found a nice campground in #ribadesella, not at the #beach but with a great view at the #picosdeeuropa. Enough time for a #singlespeed #bikeride and more. ===========================================

Honored the westy today for his well done job, bringing us here to the cape finisterre. 25 years ago we was with this vwcamper on his 1st big tour at Cabo de Roca in Portugal. So after 26 years giving us joy and many many good times he got a sticker from #santiagodecompostela and a scallop shell.
